Independent supervisors (such as the Office for Public Procurement) are key to maintaining fair competition. The credibility of these institutions depends on the ability of impartial decision-making based on facts and data, the avoidance of conflicts of interest, but also the method of selection of top representatives of these institutions, which is often subject to political or interest influence.  

We believe that the public hearing of the candidates for the chairman of the Office for Public Procurement is necessary to increase the independence of this institution and that is why the AmCham Slovakia together with Zastavme korupciu, and Slovensko.Digital will organize a public hearing of the candidates for this important position.

The hearing will be organized in the form of a moderated discussion with the candidates and will be attended by the professionals in this area, and media representatives. The discussion will mainly focus on the projects submitted by the candidates, as well as on current issues in the field of public procurement and the functioning of the Office for Public Procurement.

Pre zachovanie férovej hospodárskej súťaže sú kľúčové inštitúcie nezávislého dohľadu (ako je aj Úrad pre verejné obstarávanie). Dôveryhodnosť takýchto inštitúcií sa odvíja od schopnosti nestranného rozhodovania na základe faktov a dát, zamedzenia konfliktu záujmov, ale aj spôsobu výberu vrcholných predstaviteľov týchto inštitúcii, ktorý často podlieha vplyvu politických strán, či záujmových skupín.

Počas poslednej voľby predsedu Úradu pre verejné obstarávanie sme vnímali pozitívne ohlasy na diskusiu s odbornou verejnosťou a kandidátmi, ktorá sa uskutočnila pred samotným oficiálnym vypočutím. Veríme, že verejné vypočutie kandidátov na post predsedu Úradu pre verejné obstarávanie je nevyhnutné pre zvýšenie nezávislosti tejto inštitúcie, a preto AmCham Slovakia spolu s nadáciou Zastavme korupciu,
a Slovensko.Digital zorganizuje verejné vypočutie kandidátov na túto dôležitú pozíciu.

Vypočutie bude organizované formou moderovanej diskusie s kandidátmi a zúčastnia sa ho odborníci z tejto oblasti a zástupcovia médií. Diskusia bude zameraná najmä na projekty predložené kandidátmi, ako aj na aktuálne otázky v oblasti verejného obstarávania a fungovania Úradu pre verejné obstarávanie.
