A Candidate Forum for Chair of KSK and Mayor of Košice
In January 2024 AmCham Slovakia publicly unveiled 18 actionable steps for the successful management of the ongoing social and economic transformation as a cornerstone of the wider Mapping the Potential of Eastern Slovakia initiative. These recommendations stemmed from the collaborative efforts of more than 120+ AmCham members, partners, and supporters across all sectors, who deliberated on the current challenges, opportunities, and needs of Eastern Slovakia. Three years down the road since the first ignition of the idea, we take liberty to introduce an updated data and revised set of recommendations to further support regional competitiveness.
Slovakia as part of the European Union is navigating geopolitical uncertainty, regulatory pressure, demographic shifts, and rapid technological transformation and Eastern part of our country is no exception to that. These changes create tension and complexity, but they also open space for innovation, creativity, and collaboration. History shows that countries and regions that succeed are not those that avoid change, but those that understand it early and respond with clarity and courage. This is why competitiveness is not just a theme for us; it is a shared responsibility. Competitiveness does not emerge by accident. Like economic growth itself, it requires resilience, long-term care, and a shared vision. It demands cooperation across sectors, openness to new ideas, and the determination to invest in what truly matters.
At the same time, in close cooperation with Košice Regional Chamber SOPK, you are warmly invited to a public candidate forum bringing together those running for Chair of the Košice Self-Governing Region and Mayor of the City of Košice. The pre-elections debates will be factual, constructive, and grounded in data, real regional challenges, and specific solutions viewed through the lens of public administration and the private sector.
What concrete plans do the candidates have and how do their visions hold up against real data and the needs of the business community? Join us if you are wondering what direction the region and the city will take!
