AmCham Slovakia

Business-Academic Cooperation Committee (BAC)

bac.png The BAC Committee brings together AmCham members to strengthen the connection between education and the labor market. It regularly engages with the Ministry of Education to provide feedback on legislation and promote reforms that support practical, high-quality learning in Slovak secondary and higher education.
The committee also supports business-academic collaboration through flagship programs like Train the Trainer, Skills for Success, and Hands-on HR, where professionals from member companies share real-world insights with students.

Main Goals:

  • Foster regular dialogue with key decision-makers (Ministry of Education, Government Office, universities, high schools, self-governing regions, and municipalities)
  • Provide a platform for sharing best practices among AmCham members
  • Support entrepreneurship as a long-term driver of Slovakia's competitiveness
  • Deliver AmCham development programs and accredited university courses

The Business-Academic Cooperation (BAC) Committee represents the views of AmCham members in the area of secondary and tertiary education. It meets on a regular basis to discuss key topics such as the international attractiveness of Slovak universities, the link between education and the labor market, legislative changes, and the future direction of higher and secondary education in Slovakia.

The committee strives for a constructive and ongoing dialogue between its members and decision-makers, particularly the Ministry of Education. It actively contributes to the shaping of education policy through comments on draft legislation, policy recommendations, and advocacy efforts aimed at strengthening the practical relevance and quality of education.

Accredited university courses

Skills for Success and Hands-on HR are accredited university courses delivered at five universities in Bratislava, Nitra, and Košice, with over 1,000 successful graduates. Since spring 2017, the courses have offered professional soft-skills development and practical insights into human resources through a series of workshops led by experts from AmCham member companies. In January 2025, we proudly launched the 10th academic season in close cooperation with our university partners.
