Trade assistant

Work location: Vienna– Austria

Wallonia Foreign Trade and Investment Agency (AWEX) is the governmental agency of the Walloon Region of Belgium in charge of promoting foreign trade and attracting foreign investment.

• As an export partner for Wallonia-based companies, AWEX provides a wide range of export-oriented services (market surveys, organization of trade missions, participation in trade shows, export incentives, etc.)
• As a foreign investment agency, AWEX is the one-stop shop for foreign investors interested in investing in Wallonia.

AWEX is looking for a full-time Trade assistant (38 hours / week) in charge of Slovakia.

The person will work within an already established team under the responsibility of the head of the Viennese office, the Economic and Commercial Advisor.

The person will be based in Vienna (contract under Austrian law) but will be regularly present in Slovakia.


The role:

• together with the Economic and Commercial Advisor, define the development strategy for the Slovak market;
• assist Walloon & Brussels companies to successfully access the Slovak market
• follow news and important events in Slovakia
• regularly update economic situation and business environment (country information / sectors / events / fairs / exhibitions);
• participate in targeted events and manage business delegations;
• develop communication strategy and participate on its implementation;

We are looking for a person:

• having in-depth knowledge of the Slovak market and having good contacts with the private sector as well as with Slovak institutions in charge of industrial and business policies;
• work experience (5 years minimum) in business environment;
• team player but with ability to work autonomously;
• having a sense of organization, flexibility, client oriented;
• accepting great mobility;
• fluent in Slovak and French; knowledge of English and/or German is of a significant advantage;
• university degree or graduate from business / economy / law school
• authorized to work in Austria.
