European Economic and Social Committee: Annual conference on fundamental rights and the rule of law
On November 7, the EESC annual conference on fundamental rights and the
rule of law took place in Brussels. The objective of the conference was
to foster debate and put the voice of civil society at the forefront.
The panel discussions were based on the European Commission annual
report on the rule of law, and the EESC Fundamental Rights and Rule of
Law (FRRL) Group country visits reports.
Our colleague Zuzana Serinová who is responsible for the Institutional pillar within AmCham Slovakia, as well as coordination of the Rule of Law Initiative joined two panel discussions dedicated to (1) Civil society perspectives on developments of the rule of law in the EU in 2022/2023 and (2) the Justice chapter of the European Commission Rule of Law report and its recommendations. She presented the Slovak point of view on the application of the recommendations from the European Commission in our country, as well as the role of the civil society and third sector in upholding the rule of law from the position of watchdogs.
