European Summer School on Artificial Intelligence (ESSAI) intends to serve as a central hub for PhD students and young researchers working in all aspects of AI. The ESSAI Summer School covers one week of courses in the summer, at different sites around Europe, for both beginning and advanced students, and junior and senior researchers. ESSAI provides introductory and advanced courses in all areas of AI, emphasizing topics that allow students to gain a broad view of AI and understand connections between subdisciplines. ESSAI also offers several social activities for students and researchers alike. One of the tracks of ESSAI consists of advanced tutorials on a specific subject and corresponds to the traditional ACAI school organized by EurAI since 1989.

Starting in 2023, the European Association for Artificial Intelligence (EurAI) has organized a yearly ESSAI. The inaugural event in 2023 was held in Ljubljana, Slovenia. It was co-organized with the Advanced Course on Artificial Intelligence (ACAI), combining efforts to offer a comprehensive program on the latest developments in artificial intelligence. In 2024, ESSAI moved to Athens, Greece, continuing its tradition of fostering learning and collaboration in the AI field.

The ESSAI 2025 will offer an intensive 5-day program featuring various AI courses and tutorials. With over 30 lecturers from multiple fields, participants will have the opportunity to engage in 5+ parallel tracks of sessions each day. Mornings will include two courses, followed by a course and tutorial in the afternoon, ensuring comprehensive exposure to cutting-edge topics in AI.
