A&O Shearman advised Slovenské elektrárne, the largest producer of electricity in Slovakia and one of the largest in Central Europe, on the biggest financing deal in Slovakia to date.

The proceeds are to be primarily used for refinancing existing senior and subordinated loans, as well as for general corporate purposes, including working capital.

Commenting on the transaction, counsel Matúš Kudlák said: "Despite the challenges of 2024, we kicked off 2025 with closing this outstanding transaction, which represents a significant milestone in the Slovak energy sector. We believe this refinancing will provide Slovenské elektrárne with a solid financial foundation to continue their growth and stability of the energy market in Slovakia and Central Europe."
