And how to provide appropriate support without stepping into the role of a therapist, counsellor, or close confidant? Through demonstrations, discussions, and role-play exercises the workshop provides a practical introduction to principles of crisis intervention in workplace settings. 

Participants will explore:

• How people typically react to high stress, major life events, and crises
• How to respond when someone is crying 
• When to offer advice and when it is more helpful to simply listen
• Whether the cliché “It’ll be fine” is really always the wrong thing to say, and what to say instead.
• Other principles of crisis intervention that are often overlooked/underestimated in HR and management practice
• Where the boundaries of managerial and HR support lie

Lucie Sodomková - Lucie Sodomková is a psychologist, crisis intervention specialist, and HR consultant. As a Senior Consultant at Assessment Systems by Mavie, she designs and delivers workshops for managers and HR professionals on topics including psychological first aid, mental health, and employee development. Alongside her corporate work, Lucie has been working with the crisis helpline since 2019 as a crisis intervention specialist and trainer. This combination of frontline crisis work and extensive experience with managers and HR teams allows her to bridge evidence-based crisis intervention principles with the realities of the workplace.
