Fulbright Program celebrates its 75th anniversary. Become a Fulbrighter

The Fulbright Program connects the United States with more than 160 partner countries worldwide, Slovakia being one of them. Program, which enhances mutual understanding and helps people and nations work together toward common goals, celebrates 75th anniversary this year. 

Since the inception of the Fulbright Program in 1946, over 400,000 people from all backgrounds recent graduates, teachers, scientists and researchers, artists, and more have participated in the Fulbright Program to seek greater global understanding and advance ideas in the world we share. Fulbright alumni have achieved distinction in many fields, and include 60 Nobel Prize recipients, 89 Pulitzer Prize winners, and 39 who have served as a head of state or government.

The Fulbright Program began in Slovakia in 1994 and has granted 362 awards to Slovak citizens who have had the opportunity to study, teach or conduct research in the U.S., and 381 American students, scholars, and professionals have been awarded Fulbright grants in a variety of academic fields in Slovakia. Apply for a Fulbright Award, Become a Fulbrighter! Currently, there are 3 awards open for Slovak citizens and 1 for Slovak institutions. The Humphrey Fellowship Program offers accomplished young and mid-career professionals with proven leadership potential 10 months of non-degree graduate-level study, leadership development, and substantive professional collaboration with U.S. counterparts.

Application deadline is September 1, 2021. Ronald and Eileen Weiser Professional Development Award offers Slovak scholars the opportunity to apply for short-term (4 to 6 weeks) research visits at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA. Candidates are invited to propose projects in any field of research or teaching with faculty partners at the University of Michigan. Application deadline is September 15, 2021.

The Fulbright Specialist Program is intended for Slovak institutions to host U.S. faculty members, professionals and artists for 2 to 6 weeks to serve as expert consultants on curriculum and materials, faculty development, institutional planning, deliver seminars and workshops, conferences or symposiums and lectures. Application deadline is September 30, 2021.

Fulbright Slovak Scholar Program offers an opportunity for Slovak scholars - lecturers and researchers, and experienced professionals to engage in full-time advanced research or lecturing at college or university level in the United States. Applications are accepted in all fields of study. Application deadline is October 14, 2021.
