The Transatlantic Economy 2024

The $8.7 trillion transatlantic economy is proving to be remarkably resilient in the face of global economic and strategic disruptions. The U.S. and Europe remain each other’s most important markets and geo-economic base.

No two other regions in the world are as deeply integrated as the U.S. and Europe – one third of global GDP in terms of purchasing power is being created at both sides of the Atlantic. The Transatlantic Economy 2024 presents the most up-to-date facts and figures about the economic relationship between Europe and the United States. The research was conducted independently by Daniel Hamilton and Joseph Quinlan at the Foreign Policy Institute, School of Advanced International Studies, Johns Hopkins University and the Transatlantic Leadership Network. The 21st edition of the report features new insights into the international support for Ukraine and sanctions against Russia, major shifts in the transatlantic energy economy, the reconfiguration of global supply chains with derisking strategies at play, relations with China as well as the green and digital transitions. Read the study that also includes dedicated profiles for 30+ European countries, including Slovakia, and all US states.
