AmCham Charity Fundraising Drive: Make a difference!
As part of its longstanding tradition, AmCham is once again hosting its annual Charity Fundraising Drive, with the goal of making a meaningful impact on those in need within our communities.
We are reaching out to our members for donations, which will be
distributed to a deserving organization. Now, more than ever, we must
come together to face the challenges around us and extend our support to
those who need it most.
THIS YEAR, AMCHAM IS PROUD TO SUPPORT OASIS - HOPE FOR A NEW LIFE:
Founded on September 13, 2005, OASIS - Hope for a New Life is a non-profit organization providing essential services to people in need, especially those experiencing homelessness. Its mission is to help the abandoned, sick, and vulnerable regain dignity, stability, and hope for a better future.
The organization offers three key social services:
- Shelter (177 people)
- Dormitory (up to 279 people)
- Support for independent living
The organization assists the abandoned, sick, and all those who have lost their homes and require support.
The charity literally collects people from the streets who are begging, homeless, often drunk, or under the influence of drugs, where many of them are also mentally sick.
As part of occupational therapy, OASIS operates a small farm, tending to animals, greenhouses, and fields to achieve partial self-sufficiency in food production. The organization also runs a shelter for abandoned dogs, currently caring for about 20 of them.
OASIS is currently implementing the Housing Led project, supporting 18 families in securing rental housing within the majority community, accompanied by professional counseling and social work.
Funds raised thanks to AmCham Slovakia members will contribute to completing a four-apartment house for families with children in need.
