The Future of Energy Security in Slovakia Roundtables

Energy security is increasingly shaping discussions across Europe, and Slovakia is no exception. At recent AmCham Slovakia roundtables titled “The Future of Energy Security in Slovakia,” representatives of government institutions, members of parliament, industry experts, and business leaders came together to exchange perspectives on one of the most strategic topics for the country’s economic future.

Reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy remains a cornerstone of economic competitiveness, investment confidence, and long-term prosperity. In a time marked by geopolitical uncertainty, market volatility, and an accelerating global energy transition, building a resilient and diversified energy system has become more important than ever.

A key highlight of the discussion was the presentation of Shell Energy Scenarios by David Hone, which provided valuable insights into possible pathways for the global energy transition and their implications for energy security. The presentation sparked an engaging debate on how to balance security of supply, economic development, and climate ambitions, as well as on the role of flexible energy sources, LNG, and alternative fuels in strengthening the resilience of the energy system.

We would like to thank our partner Shell Slovakia for bringing this important discussion forward, especially Country Manager Jarmila Gurská and Head of Corporate Relations Jana Vostinarova, as well as Seesame for their cooperation in organizing the event.

The discussion will continue at the AmCham Slovakia Energy for Sustainable Business Conference on March 26 at the Riverpark Hotel in Bratislava, where stakeholders will further explore pathways toward a secure and sustainable energy future.
