AmCham Slovakia joined a discussion with European Commissioner for Environment, Water Resilience and a Competitive Circular Economy, Jessika Roswall, bringing the perspective of businesses navigating the green transition. We were represented by our Policy Manager, Zuzana Serinová.

The debate highlighted a shift in how ESG is perceived. While some claim it is fading, the reality is a move from ambition to implementation -focusing on delivery, competitiveness, and practical impact. A key topic was the transition to a circular economy, which requires systemic changes across product design, supply chains, and business models. With the EU circularity rate at around 12% and Slovakia below average, the challenge remains significant, but so does the opportunity.

The message was clear: the transition is not slowing down - it is maturing. For businesses, the question is no longer whether to engage, but how to do so competitively and effectively.
