The Price of Goodness
Wednesday, Mar 18, 2026 From 18:00 to 21:00
A4 priestor súčasnej kultúry, Bratislava
organized by HighBrõws
Most people have helped someone at some point in their lives. And many have wondered, at least for a moment: Why did I do it?
Is helping others an act of pure selflessness? Or is it something more complex — a mixture of empathy, fear, belonging, or the search for meaning?
And does it even matter why we help?
We invite you to an evening of The Theatre of Living Hypotheses, presented by HighBrõws.
This edition explores one of the most intriguing questions in human behaviour: altruism.
Rather than settling for easy answers, the evening invites the audience to explore the many layers behind acts of goodness through science, lived experience and artistic interpretation.
What to expect
Scientific insights - lived human experience through personal stories - artistic interpretations - voluntary audience participation
Together, we will play with ideas and explore the subtle motivations behind helping others.
Guests
- Olívia Hurbanová will open the evening with a scientific perspective on altruism as a living question explored by evolutionary biology, contextual behavioral science and neuroscience.
- Almira Biljalović from Doctors Without Borders, returning from humanitarian missions in crisis regions including Yemen, will share what helping means in places where it is no longer an abstract concept but a daily decision.
- Julie Nox an original singer accompanied by pianist Tomáš Regina, will present the premiere of her new song and video “The Other Side of the River.”
- Veroni Gyenge a slam poet performing across Europe, will explore the theme of goodness through rhythm, language and personal experience.
- Eva Ogurčáková – artistic director and Kristína Chmelíková – dance dramaturg from Divadlo z Pasáže, the only professional theatre in Slovakia working with actors with disabilities, will close the evening with fragments of a world where the boundaries between strength and vulnerability naturally dissolve.
Expect an evening of discovery where the line between stage and audience gradually fades in a shared exploration of ideas.
Come with an open mind. Leave with better questions.
Tickets are available at: https://luma.com/divadlo
All proceeds from the event will be donated to Divadlo z Pasáže.
