Although there are many music events to choose from in the run up to Christmas, one of the highlights will definitely be the Pressburger Christmas (Pressburg is the old name for Bratislava) with the Janoska ensemble and their guests, Fragile.

THE JANOSKA ENSEMBLE is made up of three brothers and their brother-in-law who are all from musical families. They come from Bratislava and now live in Vienna, where they received a first-rate musical education and were active instrumentalists in the most prestigious orchestras. The members of the ensemble enjoy worldwide acclaim. They are united not only by their talent and family ties, but first and foremost by the musical vision. Thanks to their virtuosity and talent for improvisation, the musicians are able to perform a wide-ranging repertoire extending from popular classics and their own compositions to unique arrangements that include genres such as gypsy, tango and pop.

They created the unmistakable Janoska style and perform at the world’s most renowned concert halls. The ensemble has shared a stage with musical legends such as Bobby McFerrin, B.B. King, Paco de Lucia, Angelika Kirchschlager, Daniela Fally and others. The guests of the Janoska ensemble will be the Slovak music group, Fragile, which comprises celebrities from TV sitcoms, the theater, musical productions and TV shows. Without using musical instruments, they interpret famous rock, pop and jazz hits of famous musicians from around the world. Their collaboration with the Janoska Ensemble promises a unique evening full of excitement.

SIMONA ŠATUROVÁ is one of the best Slovak sopranos who was born in Bratislava and lives in Prague. Her light and flexible voice, exceptional legato, charming and distinctive appearance, and passion have taken her to the most prestigious stages in the world. She is particularly well-known for her Mozart. She sings Konstanze with such a seismic coloratura, sensitivity and perfect style that your breath is taken away. In addition to numerous appearances at the National Theatre Prague (Gilda, Konstanze, Pamina, Susanna and others) and the Prague State Opera (Adele, Rosina), she has also performed on the stages of the Teatro Colón (Buenos Aires), the Théâtre du Châtelet Paris, Opéra de Monte Carlo and the Megaron in Athens. She is a popular guest performer at the Théâtre de la Monnaie (Ilia, Sandrina) in Brussels and the Oper Frankfurt (Lucia, Madama Cortese, Pamina, Oscar). Simona Šaturová has also earned an international reputation as a concert and oratorio singer. Her guest baritone, Pavol Remenár, is a soloist of the Slovak National Theater and is often a guest on other European stages.

The top highlight of the concert program of the Kapos Agency will be the concert of the “King of Belcanto”, the Peruvian tenor JUAN DIEGO FLÓREZ. His fluid, expressive singing and dazzling virtuosity make him ideal for the operas of Rossini, Donizetti and Bellini. For the world’s leading opera houses, Juan Diego Flórez is very much the bel canto tenor of choice. Juan Diego was born in Lima on 13 January 1973. His father, Rubén Flórez, was a singer, who specialized in performing the criollo waltzes. Juan Diego inherited both his father’s vocal talent and his love for Peruvian and Latin American music. His mother, María Teresa, was also a music lover and gave him all the support in the world, encouraging him to persevere with his musical studies and stick to his goals.

In 1994, Juan Diego met the celebrated Peruvian tenor Ernesto Palacio in Lima, an encounter which was to prove life-changing. Palacio recognized the qualities of his voice, its flexibility and a seemingly effortless ability to hit the high notes, which destined him for the bel canto repertoire and, in particular, the operas of Rossini. In 1996, Juan Diego saved a Matilde di Shabran production when he deputized for a sick tenor, learned the role in a few days, brilliantly sang the premiere and literally became famous overnight. Since then, he has appeared at all the world’s leading opera houses, concert halls and music festivals. He has recorded eight solo albums, twelve complete operas on CD and eleven on DVD, and made another seven albums in other categories, such as cantatas or oratorios. His recordings have won many awards, including the Choc du Monde de la Musique, Diapason d’Or, Echo Klassik Preis, Cannes Classical Award, Gramophone Award and a Grammy nomination for the album Bel Canto Spectacular.
