Innovation in the Digital Age
Harnessing the Power of AI
The person who was originally meant to write this issue’s Letter to Members had to cancel at the very last moment due to unexpected circumstances. We did have an alternative lined up but in the end we decided to do this little experiment. Since this issue of Connection is dedicated to digital technologies and their impact on business and society, we decided to approach the most talked about AI chatbot of the past few months with the request to write this text. You can judge the result for yourselves…
Innovating for Cyber Safety
Two thirds of the worlds’ population – 5 billion of us – are connected via digital networks, influencing how we shop, work, live and play. From AI - to cloud - to quantum, data-led technologies power this digital connectivity, but it is trust that acts as an invisible, unifying force that enables the speed, innovation and choices that many of us take for granted.
A Cyber-security upgrade
Every company needs to ensure the security of its data and information systems. The company’s clients count on the confidentiality of the sensitive data, contracts and other information provided, whose disclosure could bring harm. Leakage of such data could be catastrophic in its consequences. An additional element that has appeared on the cybersecurity radar in recent years is artificial intelligence. Both cybercriminals and teams protecting organizations are using it more and more.
A forgotten facet of your digital transformation
Accelerated by the recent crises – pandemic, energy, and war-related – many organizations brushed up their strategies and plans for digital transformation. To achieve positive return on investment, the boards opt for a “minimal” setup with cloud-based infrastructure and applications landscape. In their effort they often overlook that digitization of tools and processes with little or no insights into cybersecurity may seriously backfire and wipe out any benefits.
Cyber Fusion Center of the Future
Cyber threats are continuously evolving: from ransomware attacks to data breaches, organizations are faced with immense threats and challenges. Modern cyber fusion centers can help by providing a single pane of glass, smart automation and rapid remediation.
ChatGPT: Everything, Everywhere, All At Once
Over the last three months, you couldn’t have avoided seeing some cryptic names, such as ChatGPT, and the resurrection of a once-archaic term: Artificial Intelligence (AI). ChatGPT belongs to a family of Large Language Models, which can, for instance, generate a poem, explain a complex program, or interact as a chat bot - all of this in plain English.
Data management: a cornerstone of successful business
Data technologies are rewriting the rules of business and driving organizations towards digital transformation. In these challenging times, taking into consideration the strongly competitive environment with emerging new players, the strategy for data usage can be a critical factor for many enterprises. What are the main trends and challenges in digital transformation area and what benefits can new techniques bring companies?
Can Robots Help Your Business?
One of the fastest growing segments of the software market today is Robotic Process Automation (RPA). According to experts, the development of this area will not slow down in the coming years and further growth is expected. Organizations increasingly appreciate RPA’s ability to automate routine human tasks involving data processing. Slovak enterprises share this view.
Pitfalls of AI Regulation
The Medical Devices Regulation and the In Vitro Diagnostic Medical Devices Regulation, both of which were enacted in 2017, are currently regulating medical AI tools in the EU. Nevertheless, there have already been many non-binding strategic documents adopted by various EU organizations.
Digital innovations continue to transform organizations and entire industries and it is critically important to follow the latest developments and trends. We asked our members about the innovations they perceive as the most interesting within their sector. As AmCham’s membership covers a wide spectrum of industries, the answers offer an intriguing mosaic of innovative trends.
Changing of the Guard
As of February 1, AmCham Slovakia has a new Executive Director. Martina Slabejová took over AmCham’s leadership after Ronald Blaško, who has more than successfully guided the chamber through challenging times since June 2018. We asked both of them to share their thoughts on AmCham’s role and vision, as well as their personal values and experience.
Work and Life Connections

Addressing Cyber Threats in Healthcare
In recent years, cyber-attacks have become more sophisticated, and cybercriminals are constantly finding new ways to exploit vulnerabilities in the IT systems of healthcare facilities. The rise of connected medical devices, such as pacemakers and insulin pumps, has created new entry points for attackers to gain access to healthcare networks.
How to Reap the Benefits of Cloud Computing
Cloud computing is undoubtedly a phrase that is being used a lot in various forums these days. Why is it like that? What does this phrase mean and what impact does it have on the modern functioning of companies?

Quo vadis Ethica Artificialis Intelligentiae?
“Artificial intelligence will reach human levels by around 2029. Follow that out further to, say 2045, we will have multiplied the intelligence, the human-biological machine intelligence of our civilization a billion-fold.” Ray Kurzweil, inventor and futurist
You are what you eat
No, this article will not be about dietary advice or the latest nutrition research, but this common phrase rings true for Artificial Intelligence and all the applications, tools, and devices which use AI to make decisions, recommendations or create content.
AI’s Potential to Transform Healthcare
Artificial Intelligence (AI) already plays a key role in the healthcare industry, and there is no doubt that AI will have a bigger and bigger impact on IT solutions or applications in this space. While working with the Healthcare and Medical Technology sector, we are facing higher demand for AI-based solutions, machine learning (ML) and big data experts.
The Opportunities and Risks of Generative AI
How do current technological breakthroughs impact our value systems and how can we channel them for human progress
Human fascination with creating human-like objects can be traced all the way to ancient Greece and Pygmalion, Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein and as technology and robotization developed, human-made human-like creatures came to embody our deepest fears of machines overtaking our world such as in the classic Terminator or the more nuanced horror movie M3gan, touching upon aspects of ethics and human-machine interaction. Today, it is hard to distinguish whether technological advancements are inspiring movies and fictional books, or the other way around.
